Description
Thermal Mastic: Cork-Based Solution for Insulation and Repair
Enhance your surfaces with Masilla Térmica, a ready-to-use putty formulated with acrylic copolymers, natural cork granules, and glass fibers, designed for thermal and acoustic correction in interior and exterior applications. This flexible, breathable putty is ideal for repairing, smoothing, and protecting walls, facades, and SATE systems, addressing issues like moisture, mold, and cracks.
Key Features
- Thermal Insulation: Thermal conductivity of 0.059 W/m·K, corrects thermal bridges and insulation deficiencies.
- Acoustic Improvement: Reduces airborne noise, impact, and reverberation.
- Moisture Resistance: Class I water vapor permeability and resistant to liquid water (0.006 kg/(m²·h⁰·⁵)), combats mold and condensation.
- Elasticity: High flexibility prevents shrinkage cracks, even on surfaces with structural movement.
- High Adhesion: 1.0 MPa, compatible with concrete, wood, glass, ceramic, PVC, and more.
- Versatility: Suitable for tiling, jointing, smoothing irregular surfaces (textured paint, ceramics), and as a thermal adhesive in SATE systems.
- Facade Protection: Prevents degradation from cracks, moisture, and thermal differences.
- Customizable Finish: Can be painted (with water-based paints), varnished, sanded (60-120 grit), tiled, or left as applied.
Why Choose Thermal Mastic?
Masilla Térmica is the ideal solution for projects requiring insulation, repair, and protection. Its formula, with a density of 1.06 kg/L and pH of 7.8 ± 1, allows thin-layer applications (max 2 mm) for a durable, functional finish. This putty enhances thermal-acoustic comfort, protects against moisture, and smooths irregular surfaces, making it perfect for walls, facades, and external thermal insulation systems (SATE).
Application Guidelines
- Surface Preparation: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and dust-free. Repair degraded areas, brush powdery surfaces, and apply Suber-Fix. For cracks, widen them, remove dust, apply Suber-Fix, and repair with Thermal Mastic or mortar, avoiding air pockets.
- Mixing: Mix with an industrial mixer at low speed for 3-5 minutes until homogeneous, adding up to 200 mL of clean water per 15 L bucket if needed.
- Application: Apply in thin layers (max 2 mm) with a trowel, spatula, or putty projection machine. Allow 4-6 hours drying between coats at 20°C.
- Consumption: 2 kg/m² (two or more coats); theoretical consumption of 1.20 kg/m² per mm of thickness.

Storage and Precautions
Store in a cool, dry place (5-45°C) for up to 2 years in its original container, avoiding direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and prevent product buildup on container walls to avoid clumping. Clean tools with water immediately after application; use solvent and mechanical methods for hardened residue. Not recommended as a final exterior finish. Available in polypropylene buckets of 15 L (approx. 14.1 kg) and 4 L (approx. 3.7 kg).
Ideal For
- Walls with thermal deficiencies or thermal bridges
- Surfaces with mold, fungi, or condensation issues
- Tiling, jointing, or smoothing irregular surfaces (textured paint, ceramics)
- Facades exposed to cracks, moisture, or thermal differences
- SATE systems as a thermal adhesive
